Seahorses is about to embark on a new and exciting phase of our development and we want to share the news with you. When we opened three years ago, we tapped into a demographic that had previously been overlooked. We focused on “parenting through the lens of fatherhood.”
As the years have progressed, we’ve learned and adapted. We have noticed that dads value time well spent with their kids, knowledge gained from other experienced dads/parents, and community resources to allow these things to flourish. Through this experience, we have determined the best way to serve our community is by moving away from retail sales and shifting our focus to creating a community-based resource place. We anticipate converting to a purely non-profit entity in 2018 to provide those desperately needed services to the Portland community.
We wish to become a comprehensive community center that caters to the needs of the dads in our community, but also towards all parents and caregivers collectively, with kids of all ages. It is our goal to provide a space that allows relationships between parents and kids to flourish, and create some fun memories along the way.
The first step in making these changes is clearing out our retail merchandise.
If you have a gift card you’ve been saving up, use it now. We will no longer be accepting gift cards after 12/14/17, and no returns or exchanges after 12/1/17.
We’ve loved being able to bring you the most innovative products and fun events and programming, but now we’re ready to focus on the community side of things. We can’t wait to share what we’ve got coming up!
